News and Announcements
When Sunday, May 29
Where Garson Arena, Upper Hall
Agenda will be forwarded the week prior to the meeting.
Attendance at this meeting is crucial to the continuance of the League.
As was noted in a previous email to the member League contacts (Feb.12), concerning succession planning, substantially all of the Executive Board of the League will not be returning next season, as they move on to other endeavours. This includes all Conveners.
(At this point in time, only Angela Vendette (Vice President), has indicated that she is willing to continue on with her involvement in the Executive. She has indicated though, that her plans do not include putting her name forward for President.)
Please note the following, from the NDHL Constitution.
NDMHL Constitution- Article 4 “Meetings”
1. Two general meetings shall be held each year. One shall be the Annual General Meeting and the other shall be a scheduled meeting in September of each year. It shall be mandatory for one representative of each team to attend these meetings. The President may call any additional meetings as required. A fine of one hundred dollars ($100) per team will be levied against an association that does not send one team representative for each team planning on competing in a division.
Although most member Associations did not run Spring tryouts this year, and may not know 100% whether all planned teams will be iced come September, it is the opinion of the current Executive, that the above article #4, can be considered, with respect to attendance commitments for this meeting.
Please do not hesitate to contact me, if you have any questions.
If this message should be forwarded on to a different contact for your association, please do so accordingly.
Joe McColeman, President
Nickel District Hockey League
Our board is committed to collecting feedback about your season. Our goal is to ensure families have a chance to share all the positive aspects of your season, and to provide direct, constructive feedback. We love hearing about all the great things our players have been able to experience this year as a result of the hard work of so many volunteers and non-parents taking time to support the development and growth of our players. This information will go a long way towards helping us make our coaching selections for the upcoming season.

Just to keep everyone in the loop, SMHA and NCHA have agreed to hosting all tryouts in the Fall. Continue to visit our websites and our Facebook pages for more detailed information surrounding tryout dates for each age group and levels. As everyone knows, the OHF has mandated Fall tryouts for U7 through to U13 age groups. We feel that delaying the U14 through to U18 tryouts will provide us with more time to properly plan our joint tryouts. As well, we believe this will give interested individuals ample opportunity to consider applying for our combined clubs where applicable.
NCHA and SMHA board of directors have put together a AAA Team structure for the upcoming 2022/2023 season. We have agreed to collaborate @ the AAA level and will be seeking coaches for the following clubs. NCHA will be hosting the U12AAA, U13AAA and U14AAA teams, while SMHA will be icing the U15AAA, U16AAA and U18AAA clubs for the upcoming season.
Should you be interested in applying for any of these teams, please visit the NCHA or SMHA website for the application package. Please send your completed application to SMHA.NCHAhockey@gmail.com .
