NOHA Awards Winners 22-23 Season
Congratulations to this season’s NOHA Awards Winners!
Hockey wouldn’t be possible without our volunteers. We are proud to present this season’s esteemed Award Winners.
Angus Campbell Merit Award – Gayle Payette, M’Chigeeng
The Angus Campbell Merit Award, named after the founder of the Northern Ontario Hockey Association, is an order of merit in hockey, awarded by the NOHA, to an individual for outstanding service to the game other than as a player.
Gayle Payette has been a long-serving volunteer of the NOHA, an NOHA Vice President, and currently serves on the OHF Board of Directors. Congratulations, Gayle!
Rick F. Albert Award – Steven Polyblank, Temiskaming Shores
This award is to be presented to a person or association which has been instrumental in the area of development within the NOHA. The award can be given to an individual involved in Coaching, Refereeing, Training or the Initiation Programs, one who has developed a program which has been incorporated to the benefit of hockey or a person who has dedicated a great deal of time and effort to development within the NOHA.
Steven Polyblank has devoted many years in service of the development of young hockey players, including Team NOHA, and currently coaches the Timmins Majors U18 AAA team. Congratulations, Steve!
We would also like to thank Past President Claudette Myre for her many years of service and dedication. Claudette has been a tireless advocate for minor hockey in Northern Ontario, and her dedication has been second to none.
Thanks also to the Timmins Economic Development Corporation for their assistance in hosting the Annual General Meeting, alongside Timmins Minor Hockey Association and Porcupine Minor Hockey Association.
ATTENTION!!! NCHA MEMBERS
NCHA Members, due to developments during the ongoing A tryouts the association has elected to attempt to ice balanced teams as opposed to icing the traditional East West rosters. This has been put upon us by imbalanced geographic registrations, and an attempt to maintain our original commitment to ice 2 teams not 1 at each level of A. We apologize if this communication has come untimely but we attempted to maintain east west as long as seen feasible. Hope this helps to clear up some of the anxiety surrounding the decisions being made.
