Shut-down of League games

Posted by Web Master on Dec 19 2021 at 02:31PM PST in Season 2021-2022

Due to the current Covid situation, the Nickel District League is announcing that the League will be formally shut down for all games, that cross-over Health Units, for a period of 4 weeks effective Monday Dec. 20 to Sunday Jan. 16 inclusive.

Only teams residing in the same Health Unit territory are allowed to play League games, should they choose to play during this period and should their local Health Unit allow such play.

The safety of all players, coaches and their families is the mitigating factor for this shut-down, and will complement prevention efforts currently in effect for the Algoma and Sudbury/Manitoulin Public Health Units, as well as supporting a recent decision by the Timmins PHU, to have games with out-of-zone teams, shut down.

Along with games in the Algoma PHU and Sudbury PHU already having been shut down, the following regular season inter-association series are shut down:

Jan 2 – Temiskaming Shores at Timmins Jan 8/9 – CCliff at North Bay - Sudbury at Temiskaming - East Nipissing at Sudbury - CCliff at Northshore - Hearst/Kap at Chapleau - NBay at NCity - Temiskaming at NBay Jan 15/16 – CCliff at NBay - Sault at NCity - Porcupine at Northshore - WNipissing at Hearst/Kap - NBay at NCity - Timmins at Sudbury - Temiskaming at NBay

If there are any errors in the above affected match-ups, or if you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Thank you
Joe McColeman, President
Nickel District Hockey League
